Accessibility
Usable by everyone, grandparents included
Guests arrive from a link in a message, on all kinds of phones, in all kinds of light. Shareish is built so a grandparent on a small screen can use it.
What we do
Built for thumbs and screen readers
- Text is at least 16 pixels, and we check text colours for contrast.
- Buttons and fields are thumb-sized: at least 44 pixels, and most are 52.
- Every field has a visible label. Errors say what went wrong and how to fix it, in words and with an icon, never colour alone.
- You can use every page with a keyboard, and the focus ring is always visible.
- We use real buttons and links, so screen readers announce them properly. Decorative pictures are hidden from them.
- Nothing needs hovering. Nothing flashes. Animations switch off if your device asks for less motion.
- Pages work at 200 percent zoom without sideways scrolling, and the language is set to Australian English.
- No account for guests, and no app to install.
What we aim for
WCAG 2.2, level AA
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. We test our own screens with a keyboard and at phone width before they go out.
Being honest
What we haven't done yet
We haven't had an independent audit or tested with many assistive technologies. The card payment form belongs to Stripe, who publish their own accessibility information. We'll update this page when that changes.
Something in the way?
Tell us the page, your device and what happened. We'll fix it or find another way to help. Ask the person who sent you the invitation and they will pass it on to us.
