Money

Where does the money go?

To the child's parent. Stripe, a licensed payments company, collects each gift and pays the parent's bank once, a few days after gifting closes. Shareish never holds the money.

Do you see my card details?

No. You enter your card in a Stripe form, or use Apple Pay or Google Pay. The details never reach us and we don't store them.

When do gifts close, and when is the parent paid?

Gifts stay open until the day the parent chooses. If they don't choose one, it is a week after the party, and it can be at most 45 days after. The parent is paid once, a few days after gifts close.

Can guests give to a charity?

Yes. A parent can add a charity, school, club or community group as one of the choices, and each guest splits their gift between the options. We take nothing from what guests give an organisation. We don't issue tax receipts: only a charity that is allowed to can.

Can other guests see what I gave?

No. Other guests never see an amount. The parent sees who gave what, so they can say thanks.

What if I can't give, or only want to come?

That's fine. Replying and giving are separate steps, and "coming, no gift" is a normal choice. Nobody asks why.

Fees

What does it cost?

Making an invitation is free. There are two fees, and both are shown before anyone pays. Each guest who gives pays a service fee on top of their gift. The parent pays a party fee, taken from the gifts as they arrive: $7 for 1 to 10, $11 for 11 to 20, $15 for 21 or more guests who give. No gifts, no party fee. It's how Shareish earns money. If a parent keeps the gift link open for a year, there is also an optional 12-month pass (see "What is the 12-month pass?").

Is anything taken out of the gift?

For guests, no. Your whole gift goes to the options you chose, and the service fee is added on top. For the parent, a small party fee comes out of the gifts as a whole, up to the amount shown when they make the invitation. Every charity or community group is still passed everything guests gave to it.

What does it cost a charity, club or school?

Nothing. We take no cut of what guests give an organisation.

The 12-month pass

What is the 12-month pass?

An optional pass that keeps a parent's gift link open for 12 months, so family and friends can give after the party, not only on the day. While it runs, the link has no closing date, there is no party fee on gifts, the parent can pay out whenever they like, and the parent can add gifts from outside the app. One pass covers all of a parent's children.

What does the pass cost?

$40 for 12 months, per parent. Extra children cost nothing. There is a special price of $30 from the party until 30 days after gifts close, and the party fee already paid counts toward it: a party fee of $7 leaves $23 to pay, $11 leaves $19 to pay, $15 leaves $15 to pay. After that it is $40 in full, with no credit. The price is shown before you pay.

Do I have to buy it?

No. If you don't, nothing changes. The party closes on the day you chose and you are paid once, as usual. Shareish never holds the money either way.

Is it a subscription?

No. It is one card payment for 12 months. It does not renew by itself and we never charge you again unless you choose to. If you want another year, you can buy a new pass, at the usual price of $40. It starts when the running pass ends.

What happens when the pass ends?

The link closes to new gifts. Anything waiting is paid out to the parent automatically, and the parent can still read the pot and any top-ups they added. We email the parent 30 days before, 7 days before and on the day it ends.

Can I start a gift link without a party?

Yes. Choose "Start a gift link" and you can open one with no date and no RSVP. It uses the usual pass price of $40, which you see before you pay.

What are manual top-ups?

A way for the parent to record money that didn't come through the app, such as cash, chores or a bank transfer, with a short note like "chores" or "Nan". It is kept apart from card gifts and is labelled "added by the parent". Nothing is charged on it. Only the parent can add, change or delete them.

What is the kids' page?

A private, read-only page for the child, by link. It shows first names only and how the pot is going, with no amounts for any one person. Anyone with the link can read it, so share it with care. Other guests never see what anyone gave.

Can I get a refund on the pass?

Yes, in full, if you ask before any gift has arrived through it. After that we look at each request one by one. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law stay as they are.

Safety

Who can see the party page?

Only people with the link. The page is hidden from search engines, and the street address shows only after someone replies that they're coming.

Do guests need an account?

No. Guests open the link on their phone and reply with a name, email and mobile number. A code sent by text confirms the reply, and there is nothing to sign in to later. Parents sign in with their mobile number and a code.

Children's privacy

What do you know about the child?

A first name and an age. No surname, no date of birth. We never show a child's name or photo in our own marketing.

Can I ask you to delete my information?

Yes. Contact us and we'll remove your personal details. We have to keep payment records, but they won't carry your name or contact details afterwards. The privacy policy has the steps.

Refunds

What if I change my mind or make a mistake?

Contact us and we'll sort it out. A refund can give back all or part of your gift. A part refund never includes the service fee. A full refund of everything you paid gives the fee back too.

What if the party is cancelled?

Every guest is refunded in full, including the service fee. Your bank may take several business days to show it.

The future fund

What is the future fund?

A gift option where the money is paid to the parent, who puts it into a savings account or junior investment fund for the child. The parent chooses the account.

Is it an investment account?

No. Shareish doesn't open accounts, hold money or manage anything. The future fund is a label on money that goes to the parent. We don't say which account or product to use, and we don't promise that money will grow.

What is the little calculator?

A simple illustration of how a regular amount adds up over the years, using a made-up assumption. It is not a forecast, not a promise, and not advice. Real results can be lower, and money can go down as well as up.

What we don't do

What won't you ever do?

We never hold your money. We never store card details. We never show other guests what anyone gave. We never use a child's surname or date of birth. We never send marketing emails unless you ticked the box.

Can I claim my gift on my tax?

We don't promise any tax benefit and we don't issue tax receipts. Only a charity that is allowed to can issue a receipt for a donation. For your own tax, ask a tax adviser.

Do you sell my information or show ads?

No. We don't sell personal information, and there are no ads on this site.

Still unsure?

Ask the person who sent you the invitation and they will pass it on to us.
