Refunds and cancelled parties
When a gift can be refunded, what happens to the service fee, and what happens if a party is cancelled.
Last updated 12 October 2026.
If you are a guest
- Up to the day of the party: you can ask for a refund for any reason. You don't have to explain.
- After the party: we'll refund a mistake, such as the wrong amount, a payment made twice, or a payment you didn't make. Other requests we look at one by one.
- Nothing here takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
How much comes back
Each payment has two parts: your gift, and our service fee. The rule is simple.
- A part refund can give back some or all of your gift. It never includes the service fee.
- A full refund of everything you paid includes the service fee.
- We don't refund an amount in between, because it would leave the fee half refunded.
For example, if you gave $40 and paid $43.01 in total: a refund of $15 is fine and the fee stays. A refund of $40 is fine and the fee stays. A refund of the full $43.01 gives back the fee as well. Refunds add up, so the refund that finishes giving back everything you paid also gives back the fee.
If your gift was split across several options, a part refund is taken from them in proportion, and the parent can see it.
If a party is cancelled
When a parent cancels a party, every guest is refunded in full, including the service fee. You don't need to ask. If a payment arrives after the party is cancelled, it is refunded straight away.
If you are a parent with a 12-month pass
A pass can be refunded in full if you ask before any gift has arrived through it. After that, we look at each request one by one. The pass does not renew by itself, so there is nothing to cancel. Nothing here takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
How long it takes
We start the refund as soon as it is approved. Stripe sends the money back to the card you paid with. It can take several business days to show on your statement, depending on your bank. We can't speed that part up.
Refunds are taken from the parent's Stripe account, because that is where the gift went. Shareish never holds the money.
How to ask
Tell us the party, the name you gave, the email you used, and what you'd like refunded. Ask the person who sent you the invitation and they will pass it on to us.
